When in Romans - How are we saved?

Jun 14, 2026    Pastor Trey Harper

(Romans 1:16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.

How Are We Saved?

(Romans 3:23) For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

(Romans 3:24) they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

1. We Are Saved *Freely.

2. We Are Saved *Exclusively.

(Romans 3:27-28) Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By one of works? No, on the contrary, by a law of faith. 28 For we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

(Philippians 3:4b-6) ...If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee; 6 regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless.

(Romans 4:3-5) For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. 4 Now to the one who works, pay is not credited as a gift, but as something owed. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness.

3. We Are Saved *Completely.

(Romans 5:1-2) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

4. We Are Saved *Securely.

(Romans 5:8-10, 20) But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 How much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath. 10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. 20 The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more

(John 10:28-29) I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

(Matthew 28:18) Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
